Wood & Finishes
We love our furniture, the light oak with the cast iron handles and the pine and painted with the robust oak knobs but, variety is the spice of life and so we are happy to offer alternatives.
We offer a wide variety of ways to customise your furniture. From painting and staining, distressing or simply adding different handles or knobs to create a piece of furniture that is right for you.
Our European oak is usually finished in layers of simple Danish Oil highlighting the beauty of the wood and included in the cost of your furniture.
If our light oak finish is not your thing then we are happy to stain the furniture for you. Our range includes medium or dark oak stains or, alternatively a limed or grey oiled finish. If you would like us to stain to match a piece of existing furniture then well happily try. Just bring a piece in and well do our best to colour match it.
As this is done on an individual basis youll need to add a 15% fee to the cost of your oak furniture. Should you wish us to stain our pine furniture we can of course do this too. Our rate for this is 30% extra.
Do you want your furniture to have a care worn, antiqued or rustic look? Well we can distress or weather your furniture too. Whilst telling it itís an ugly good for nothing thatíll never amount to much will vent some frustration, it doesnít really have much effect on the furniture! Nor does leaving it outside in the hail and showers have quite the effect we are looking for either.
Distressing and weathering furniture is an art that has been passed down the generations. The time and talent it takes should not be underestimated and, of course , deserves a good pint at the end of the day.
Our new Weathered Oak & Pine ranges are available for both our usual designs and any bespoke furniture we make for you. To take a look at how it transforms your furniture take a look at our Quaker Oak TV unit with photos of both our oiled and weathered finishes.
The Weathered Oak finish is created by wire brushing to remove the soft fibres of the wood. It is then stained a warm mid brown and then finally it is limed to create a beautiful and tactile surface.
The Weathered Pine finish is created by wire brushing to remove the soft fibres of the wood. It is then stained a warm mid brown and then finally finished with a grey oil to create a contemporary look to the furniture.
Come and view the furniture at our Stratford upon Avon showroom just off the Birmingham Road on Avenue Farm.
