Quaker

The Quaker Oak Range offers you a simple yet stylish kitchen. With clean lines and a contemporary design, the Quaker kitchen lets the natural oak speak for itself. The beauty of the Quaker Oak Kitchen means it will suit both modern and traditional houses, creating a elegant focal point in any home.

Our Quaker Oak range is so called because it is influenced by the early Quaker furniture, which relied heavily on simplicity and purity of design without superficial adornment.

The range is characterised by framed oak panels and oak flat panelled doors. There are no unnecessary curves and embellishments but proportions are calculated to present the whole piece as a pleasing art form.

Four Corners Trading Company use only traditional woodworking methods, assisted by modern machinery. Frames are held together with mortice and tenon joints and all drawers are dove-tailed. Cabinets are built in small batches or as special units.

.

Each worker is skilled in many aspects of furniture production and the ability to move from one stage to another ensures that we create a very interesting environment in which to work. This enthusiasm can be seen in the finished furniture. The natural characteristics of the raw materials are preserved and enhanced, resulting in no two pieces being exactly the same.

.

The Quaker Oak Kitchen range is known as a “door-line” design. Full height doors are used on base units, and separate units house the drawers. Although drawers give the appearance of being completely traditional from the outside, they run on state of the art easy glide self closing runners.

The Quaker Oak Kitchen is known as a “framed” kitchen. Door and drawer fronts are not simply located on the outside of the fronts of the units, as with most mass produced kitchens. They are housed within solid oak frames imparting a much greater impression of quality.

Painted Kitchens

Our kitchens are finished with a high quality oil, which offers superb protection in everyday use. This oil also provides an excellent base for oil based paints. Therefore, both Quaker and Cotswold standard ranges can be painted. Usually, units will be installed firstly, then the fronts and other visible areas are hand-painted in situ.  These days a wonderful range of colours is available and you can easily create your own customised kitchen.
